There is a lack of female technicians in the automotive industry, less than 5% of the total technicians. Volvo is making changes by increasing the recruitment of females in the field but also acknowledging the little things that make employees feel connected and respected in their work, such as uniforms. That is why we created a new uniform with female employees at the center of consideration. We have used human-centered design to address their wants and needs, not just the role's requirements in general. We aim to transform the current uniform to address better fit, comfort, mobility and performance components for women. Also, engaging young female designers like us delivers a vital message of female empowerment. Our outcomes of this project aim to support Volvo's mission of Gender equality, highlight the sustainable image of the brand and increase female customers at Volvo.
